Scaring

I have decided to write down what scares me about moving to Costa Rica and working for the Peace Corps.  By doing this, I hope I can help others who read this blog as well as break the power my fears have had over me by keeping quiet.

So here it goes....
I have moved several times in my life, however, it has always been because of my parents choice not my own.  We have moved and I knew my parents would keep the little brothers and I safe.  This move, the Hubs and I made the choice.  We are not following any one we know to Costa Rica.  We are going to the UNKNOWN.  Here is what scares me about the unknown:
    -not knowing the language
-not knowing what is expected of us in our job
-not knowing who we will live with and work with
-not knowing what is going in our family and friends live here in the States
    -not knowing the culture

As I wrote this I lost the heavy feelings of fear and stress I had on my heart and mind.
Here are a few verses that stand out to me as I try to let go of the things scaring me.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 1 Tim. 1: 7

For He Himself said, "I will never leave your or forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" Heb. 13: 5-6
I am learning that fearing the unknown is human.  However, I cannot let the fears mentioned above keep me from moving with the Peace Corps or from anything in my life.
If you have any advice about facing fears or verses/quotes about overcoming fear, I would love to hear it.
Here is another challenge to my readers, list YOUR FEARS in the comment section.  Allow a peace to fill you.  Whether you believe in a Higher Power or not, writing down our fears can help release the power they hold over us.
